Pulse College nominated to be City and Guilds Bursary Centre for Ireland

Pulse College are delighted to announce that they are set to be the first college in Ireland to be nominated by the City and Guilds International Foundation to become a City and Guilds Bursary centre. Each year, only eight different countries are selected where the bursaries will be made available and Pulse College is proud to be the chosen institution for Ireland. This will allow Pulse College to put forward worthy students who may be under pressure financially, to have their college fees funded through the Bursary programme.

“These are tough economic times and education is the key driving force to help Ireland re-emerge from the recession. This will give us the opportunity to offer help to students who are struggling with the burden of debt”,. Explains Naomi Moore, Pulse College Director.

Successful students will be able to concentrate and focus on their studies with the peace of mind knowing that their fees are taken care of. This announcement comes on top of the recent Leonardo funding Pulse received, which allowed the college to provide funded work placements in some of the top UK recording studios for 15 of their outstanding students.

The International bursaries are granted to cover the tuition and assessment fees leading to the completion of one level of a City & Guilds international qualification. This is part of City and Guilds commitment to the local communities, and enables individuals from financially underprivileged backgrounds around the world to obtain a City & Guilds qualification.

Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for a bursary:
o Live close to and intend to study at an eligible centre
o Be able to easily travel to the centre of their choice
o Demonstrate that they would not be able to pursue a training programme unless their tuition and assessment costs were paid
o Complete the application form and interview in English, at a level that is appropriate to the qualification they wish to acquire

Award winning Writer/Producer commences New Screen Writing Course for Pulse College

Due to the phenomenal success of the film courses screenwriting module, Pulse are pleased to announce that a new Screen Writing Course has been developed with the leadership of award winning writer/ producer Farah Abushwesha.

With Farah’s guidance students will be provided with a supportive environment that will encourage natural writing talent to shine through. The Screen writers lab is a five day intensive course which has an interactive and proactive approach rather than focussing on theory. It is aimed at inspiring, nurturing and stimulating you to create your own ideas and develop skills as a screenwriter.

Farah Abushwesha is a writer producer and founding member of the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forums which showcases new script writing talent at BAFTA, (past guests include Mike Newell, John Madden, and Richard Eyre). Her production work includes several high-profile, award winning short films, Late Bloomers with William Hurt and Isabella Rossellini, Micro Men, The Scouting Book for Boys (Winner @ London Film Festival), La Chinoise (Winner at Locarno), among many others.

“I’ve designed a hands-on course that gets you to write and to think in a filmic way. From Day One you will learn to verbalise what your gut is telling you, trusting your intuition and build up the confidence to know that all writing is, is moving the thoughts from your brain to your fingertips. It’s fun and far from highbrow. There is no mystery involved. On a personal note, I’m very excited to be back teaching this course again – I get a real buzz from seeing people becoming inspired and fired up about storytelling.”

On this intensive one-week workshop, we will give practical and creative exercises, personal feedback, film-making insight all intended to provide students with a better understanding on how to prepare and develop an idea into a script for the market, tap into funding and write your way into the film industry.
The Course will commence from May the 10th to the 14th
